RESEARCH

The ‘Bankable Farmer’ is an on-going initiative aiming to connect a very large base of unbanked small holder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa with Thomson Reuters banking customers. The benefit for banks is to provide loans and financial education, while offering farmers a more prosperous crop and family life.

UX Highlights

  • Customer Discovery Workshop with top Africa banks in Johannesburg

  • Pitched to executives and awarded funds to investigate

  • Large market research to understand the consumer (farmer) and ecosystem

Customer Discovery Workshop

I co-facilitated a 4-day workshop in Johannesburg with Thomson Reuters partner Vodafone and top banking customers: Barclays Bank, First National Bank, Standard Bank, and Standard Chartered Bank, to understand each bank’s vision for the future, needs, strengths and painpoints. Within a co-creation model combining TR’s data power with Vodafone’s communication network, we identified key business opportunities for these banks.
